Paccar takes stake in Platform Science

Paccar, a manufacturer of trucks and engines, has made a strategic equity investment in Platform Science, a telematics company.

The cooperation between the two businesses, which incorporates Platform Science's Virtual Vehicle technology with Paccar Connect's telematics system, is strengthened by the equity investment. According to the businesses, the projects will provide an integrated offering for Kenworth and Peterbilt trucks with a standardized telematics operating system and app store.

Customers will have direct access from the vehicle to real-time vehicle data, software, and third-party apps.

Chief Technology Officer for Paccar, John Rich, stated: "Paccar is thrilled to strengthen this strategic partnership by investing in Platform Science. The most adaptable, productive, and user-friendly connected truck solution on the market, Paccar Connect will increase our customers' operational effectiveness and agility. In 2024, we're excited to install the technology on Kenworth and Peterbilt trucks.

"Platform Science's Virtual Vehicle will bring a whole new dimension of adaptive ingenuity to trucks, empowering operators to tap into a broad suite of solutions that precisely meet their fleets' needs," continued Jack Kennedy, co-founder and CEO of Platform Science.
